Dominica (Working Title)

Synopsis
Dominica captures the essence of the beautiful Caribbean island nation of Dominica and its people. The back drop is a year-long reunion that brings Dominicans together from all over the world in 2008 to celebrate 30 years of independence from the UK. The program explores reasons why Dominica chose to celebrate its independence with a year-long nationwide reunion and why that is important to all Dominicans. Through their voices, song, and music, we learn of the past struggles and achievements of this young nation, and explore important questions related to its culture, society and its economy in the 21st century and the aspirations and vision of a people about their challenging future. With narration and interviews, these proud and diverse people take us on a journey of discovery that spans several decades and countries, and that captures moments of the reunion, breathtaking island scenes, and the nostalgia of those who have stayed abroad for too long.
